1. Be sure to take home old quizzes from our folder and tool kits.  Vocabulary lists and other materials are helpful too!

2. Look at the chapter summaries and reviews for chapters 1-4

3. Make sure you can do these things!

 

§      Tell what archeology is

§      Explain the difference between geography and history

§      Identify and describe the five themes of Geography

§      Be able to define and use the following terms:

§      Culture, environment, cultural patterns, climate

§      Give the steps of the Social Scientific Method

§      Identify the main cultural areas and their dwellings and main source of food

§      Describe families using the terms:

§      Nuclear, extended, matrilineal, patrilineal

§      Label the oceans and continents of the world

§      Give examples of how cultures adapt to their environment

§      Name the five Iroquois tribes

§      Tell what the following is…..

§      Longhouse, astrolabe, adobe, latitude

§      Identify the lands claimed by Spain, France, Holland, and England in the New World

§      Tell why each of the following were important

§      Magellan, Columbus, Ponce de Leon, Hiawatha, Deganawidah, Cortes, Champlain, Vasco da Gama,

§      Describe the reasons why Spain and France established colonies in the New World

§      Give examples of the Columbian Exchange

§      Tell why the Laws of the Indies were important.

§      Put the following events in order:

§      The founding of Jamestown, the exploration of the ST. Lawrence River, the Crusades, the writing of the Mayflower Compact

§      For the 13 English Colonies-

§      Identify them on a map

§      Know the location of Plymouth, Jamestown, and New Amsterdam

§      Know the main economic and cultural patterns of the New England, Middle, and Southern Colonies

§      Tell what a charter is

§      Describe the Mayflower Compact, who wrote it, and why
